Support activities

While carrying out social activities Ūkio bankas has become one of the major supporters of sport, art, science and medicine in Lithuania.

Sport

Sport and sport events are one of the Bank’s strategic support activity areas.

In 2009, at the critical moment to the legendary Kaunas basketball club Žalgiris, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, we lent a land to it by becoming its general sponsor and restoring it to life.

We have supported Lithuania’s professional football for a number of years, and we educate the new generation and contribute to the preservation of Lithuania’s football traditions.

Deep-rooted cooperation traditions exist between Kaunas Automobile Club and Ūkio bankas and the Bank was one of the major sponsors of the motor rally Kauno Ruduo for several years.

Our support goes to representatives of other sports as well.

Culture and art

Another area supported by the Bank for a number of years – culture and art. The Bank has provided support to Kaunas State Drama Theatre, the Russian Drama Theatre in Lithuania and the State Small Theatre of Vilnius. Ūkio bankas is the patron of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2008, we started providing financial aid to Pažaislis Music Festival, one of the most impressive events of classical music in the country. We are happy to have contributed to Kaunas Jazz, a festival intended for Lithuania’s jazz lovers, for several years already.

Ūkio bankas supports also goes to cultural events and festivals hosted in various towns and districts of Lithuania.

Science

With the aim to encourage the development of science we maintain cooperation contacts with various national universities and other scientific institutions. For several years already we have supported the activities of an expert organisation, the Lithuanian Free Market Institute. We also allocate funds to finance projects carried out by Lithuanian higher education schools, such as Kaunas University of Technology, Kaunas University of Medicine, and Vytautas Magnus University. Our support also goes to students – we actively support the country’s academic youth and their initiatives.

Being concerned with an increasing importance of environmental problems on the global scale we actively support such projects and initiatives. While cooperating with a well-known scientist Birutė Galdikas we established and support the international environmental charity and support foundation named after her.

Medicine

Since the very establishment we have consistently developed a programme of support for the national healthcare system. We presented Kaunas University of Medicine Neurosurgery Clinic with vitally important medical apparatuses, including a modern brain tumour removal instrument.

For a number of years we have supported Kaunas University of Medicine Clinics of Neurosurgery and Radiology. We contribute to the preparation of scientific conferences aimed at encouraging the implementat9on of medical innovations in Lithuania.
